Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) is well-aware of its role to boost the country's efforts in the field of science and technology, said the institute's Director General Dr. Naji Al-Mutairi on Wednesday.
He made that statement while welcoming the visit to the institution by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano.
On the institute's current and future endeavors, Al-Mutairi stressed that they would be concentrated on the scientific and industrial uses of food and agricultural products for the benefit of the health of the public. Moreover, he said the institute worked hard on achieving the best approaches to nuclear safety and security.
In a statement while visiting the institute today, Amano touted the cooperation between Kuwait and the IAEA, emphasizing the importance of nuclear safety and security.
Dr. Nader Al-Awadhi, a KISR executive for international cooperation, indicated that Kuwait's cooperation with IAEA extended to 12 local projects and 40 regional ones, and noted the numerous training programs both sides fostered.
Amano was given an extensive tour of the institute's facilities and methods of operations.
