Kuwait's Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC) is taking part in the fifth annual World Maker Faire to be held in New York, September 20-21.
Engineers, artists, makers, and the like come together in the annual global gathering to share their designs, devices, and learning.
Engineer Nasser Al-Khaldi from SACGC told KUNA that Kuwait would take part in the two-day event with a technological project, a complete e-robot (Educational Robot) system.
The system is open for all classes of the society and has been so far applied in 33 schools in the first phase, as an activity. It offers young generation the chance to learn computer programming since early age, Al-Khaldi added.
Up to 1,300 teachers have received training on the new program that will be applied in 1,000 in a second phase, he said, noting that it would later expand to include ministries and state institutions.
According to Al-Khaldi, the program has been presented as an activity in Spain, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain, where it was well appreciated. It is the first such project in Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
The robot is an effective education instrument that has been included in school curricula prompted by the great progress it has witnessed over the past two decades, inventor Ahmad Al-Saleh, participating in the Maker Faire with Al-Khaldi, told KUNA.
Robotics is a priority at the SACGC, in a bid to cope with technological advance and introduce interesting educational tools.
