
Myanmar is considering to establish a technology and innovation support center (TISC) in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), state media reported Monday, quoting the Ministry of Science and Technology. Meeting on the move in Nay Pyi Taw, Deputy Minister of the Ministry Dr. Ba Shwe said that intellectual property rights play a crucial role in the economic development of the country. He stressed the need to establish TISC to help promote intellectual property sector, adding that the center can help innovators and researchers in developing countries to promote information technology-related works, create, protect and manage intellectual property rights. The initiative move involved technical experts from TISC, officials from related ministries and representatives from non- governmental organizations, the report said.
