S. Korean panel makers command 86% of global tablet screen

Nearly 90 percent of tablet PCs used display panels made by South Korean makers in the second quarter, according to an industry report Tuesday. South Korea-based LG Display Co., the world's second-largest maker of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, accounted for 51 percent of global tablet display unit shipments in the April-June period, according to IHS iSuppli, a market research firm.
