Software developers and contributors from 21 countries are lining up to attend FOSSASIA 2014--a major international summit for technology innovators and entrepreneurs, which will be held here for three days starting from Friday, an organizer said Monday. FOSS stands for Free and Open Source Software. Mario Behling, head of FOSSASIA's programming planning, said the event would give Cambodian students and web developers a chance to network with international experts to exchange ideas on developing software and hardware. "It is an Asia's leading Open Source and Free Software conference, which will be attended by over 70 international speakers, including those from major tech companies like Google, Mozilla and Linux, and 15 local developers," he said at a press briefing on Monday. "It is a unique opportunity to share the latest innovations in open source technologies and meet contributors and potential partners." FOSSASIA 2014 has a wide-range program in store, comprising more than 100 talks and workshops, Mario said, adding that the 2014 FOSSASIA program puts a strong focus on technologies for emerging countries to improve people's life. "Topics include Android mobile and web development, software for education, map solutions for websites and phones, 3D printing technologies and IT solutions for start-ups," he said. The event, which will be held at Norton University, is expected to draw about 700 local participants.
