
The International Bank of Qatar (IBQ) announced yesterday that it is to sponsor the Capital Markets Conference which is being held in Qatar. The two-day conference that ends today is organised by Qatar Central Bank in collaboration with the General Secretariat for Development Planning and the IMF. Jabra Ghandour, Managing Director of IBQ said: “It’s a great pleasure to sponsor and take part in this important event which sees the participation of some of the most prominent speakers from around the world. The conference strongly underlines Qatar’s serious commitment towards developing capital markets which will boost the economy at both the local and regional level.” The conference agenda presents a number of important and relevant topics, including: Developing Bond Markets in Fiscal Surplus Countries; Role of the State in Developing Bond Markets; Motivation for Developing Debt Markets in the GCC and Financing Infrastructure in the region.
