
The Malaysian banking sector is set to see further expansion into the immediate region next year to improve and increase activities along the new frontier countries. Lead economist (trade and regional cooperation), Office of Regional Economic Integration, Asian Development Bank, Jayant Menon, said Myanmar was one of the new regional options for local banks to expand, besides Cambodia and Laos. "There are also a lot of potentials for banks to increase their sales and revenues in these new frontier markets. "Vietnam also has a lot of potentials in terms of future growth for Malaysian banks," he told Malaysian News Agency (Bernama).
