Energy Minister Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza revealed during a business luncheon hosted on the peripheries of the Bahrain-Britain Entrepreneurs' Forum at the Crown Plaza Hotel here that oil production is set to increase from 50,000 to 100,000 barrels per day over the next five years. The Minister narrated the 80-years long history of the oil sector since oil was first discovered in Bahrain in 1932 and praised solid British contribution into the Bahrain Oil Company (BAPCO) throughout the past decades. The Minister invited British firms to explore available and future prospects in the oil sector. The Minister revealed taht drilling is underway in 3600 new oil wells. The Minister answered questions in the presence of British Ambassador Mr. Iain Lindsay and the Bahrain-Britain Business Forum's chairman Khalid Al-Zayani. Mr. Al-Zayani highly appreciated the Minister's efforts and practical experience which extended over 49 years in the oil and gas industry. The Bahrain-Britain Business Forum includes 430 members from the two friendly countries.
