Bangladesh has discovered a new inland gas field, Xinhua reported. The reserve is located in Sylhet district, about 240 km from Dhaka. Mortuza Ahmad Faruque, managing director of the state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration Company told reporters that it was discovered during a test drill on Sunday. However, Faruque said that it could not be ascertained immediately the total amount of recoverable gas. “We’re expecting to add about 20 million cubic feet of gas per day from the new zone,” he said. In recent years, several trillion cubic feet (TCF) of natural gas have been added to the confirmed 10.5 TCF known as of 1996. FRom:GULF
