ArmRosGazprom, a subsidiary of Russia’s gas giant Gazprom, will expand a terminal at an underground gas storage facility in Armenia’s Abovyan until the end of the year, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. Armenia needs to increase its underground gas storage capacities over frequent failures in the transit of Russian gas through Georgia to Armenia. Gazprom is the main shareholder in ArmRosGazprom. The Russian monopoly plans to increase its stake in Armenia’s gas company from 80 percent to 100 percent. In 2012 Gazprom supplied 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas to Armenia.
