Operation to control the burning oil well in the northern region of Al-Rawdatain is proceeding according to plans, said a statement by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) here on Saturday. The KOC said that operations to control the burning RA-484 well were going according to the plan, adding that the team assigned to handle the situation were coming close to seal the hole which lead to the emission of dangerous gas to the atmosphere. Tip of the well was capped and course of the emitting gas and oil was shifted to two specially-designed craters, the statement explained. It indicated that according to the plan, the buried drilling machine would be pulled out and huge amounts of mud would be injected into the well to seal it permanently. Leakage of hydrogen carbon from the well started last October. The company set the well afire in a bid to stop the emission.
