Operator of South Yaran oil field Homayoun Kazzemeini said the development plan of the field has undergone some changes to boost oil production from the field to 50 to 60 thousand barrels per day. Kazzemeini said to this end the number of the wells to be drilled in the field have been raised from 22 to 30 and production target has gone up from 35 thousand barrels per day to 50 to 60 thousand barrels per day. He added that development of South Yaran oil field is under way by 2 percent ahead of schedule while infrastructural activities including mine sweeping, construction of access road and preparing the site for drilling nearly 75 percent ahead of schedule. "All necessary measures have been taken for transfer and treatment of the oil will be produced in the field," the official said. He further said that drilling operations had been started since a few months ago by National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) witnessing great progress. According to the official, at the time being, three drilling rigs are operational in the site so drilling operations will see breakthroughs in near future. Elsewhere in his remarks, Kazzemeini said, "The oil produced from the field will be transferred to West Karoun facilities for treatment while its associated gases will be sent to NGL-3200 unit." He said development plan of the field is mainly based on maximal use of domestic resources including Iranian consultants and contractors capabilities and companies such as Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC), NIDC, Maron Bana Company and IRGC’s mine sweeping headquarters. South Yaran oil field is located 130 km west of Ahvaz city south of Iran in Khozestan province along the border line with Iraq.
