Amy Winehouse's demos for her album have destroyed

David Joseph, the chairman/chief executive officer of Universal Music UK, says recordings intended for the late Amy Winehouse's unfinished, third album, have been destroyed.

"She probably finished the writing ­process a few weeks before she passed," producer Salaam Remi recently told Billboard magazine. "As far as I could see, we had 14 songs. Whatever needed to happen, it was right there."

"It was a moral thing," Joseph said of the decision to destoy those recordings. "Taking a stem or a vocal is not something that would ever happen on my watch. It now can't happen on anyone else's."

The British soul singer died of alcohol poisoning in 2011 after years of substance abuse. She was 27.

Amy, a documentary about her brief, tragic life, is now in theaters.
