2-hour delay in EgyptAir flight from London due to airspace shut down

An EgyptAir flight was delayed Friday for about two hours after London airspace was closed due to a system failure at the main British national control center in Swanwick.
The flag carrier airline of Egypt resumed its flights from Heathrow Airport at 5:00 p.m. local time, head of EgyptAir in London Salah Qadri told MENA reporter.
Two other flights to Johannesburg and Entebbe were also delayed for almost two hours, Qadri added.
According to the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation, a computer failure led all airspace over the capital to be severely restricted this afternoon.
NATS, the main air navigation service provider in the UK, confirmed that a technical problem had been reported at Swanwick Air Traffic Control centre.
Planes started to depart again, but passengers traveling to and from London’s largest airports faced lengthy delays and cancellations. Heathrow has cancelled 50 flights and expects the number to rise.
