The Australian authorities included new changes in Australian passports introducing a new column for bearer’s gender: male, female or unspecified for those may wish to change their gender. Reportedly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kevin Rod announced the Australian passport changes citing that Australian citizens now have the choice to submit a medical certificate to support their preferred gender adding that such modification will ameliorate life and alleviate administrative burden on gender and social type for those who may wish their passports to reflect their gender. Australian MP Louisa Brat – whose partner has undergone a similar surgical procedure - welcomed the measure and said: This is indeed very happy news for such people who will be able to travel abroad without any problems.
