
The Central Agency for Remedying Illegal residents' Status announced on Saturday the issuance of 91,359 new identity cards for illegal residents, including 89,211 yellows cards and 2,148 blue ones during 2014.
Director of the cards department at the Central Agency Tariq Mohammed Al-Beaijan told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the cards are issued within 48 hours of the applying for it, adding that the number of (To Whom It May Concern) certificates issued by the department during 2014 amounted to 11,267 in various state institutions.
He added in this context that the Central Agency delivers these certificates to the applicant on the same day.
He pointed out that the use of security surveillance system when issuing new cards requests during the same period contributed to the discovery of 339 people holding passports of other countries.
He explained that issuance of new cards for the discovered persons has been suspended.
He said that the cards department undertook 2,812 criminal fingerprint transactions during the same period through the automated fingerprinting device for those who did not make pre-fingerprint.
