Mr. Abid Butt has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts (BTHR). BTHR is the wholly-owned hotel management and development subsidiary of Singapore-listed Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd. Mr. Butt has a legacy of experience with Banyan Tree, having served as the Area General Manager for the Group’s flagship resort, Banyan Tree Phuket, over ten years ago, followed by his appointment as the first Vice President of Operations from 2000 – 2002. In this capacity, Mr. Butt oversaw operations and branding for existing hotels and resorts and the launch of new properties. In his most recent position, Mr. Butt was the Vice President for Asset Management of Host Hotels & Resorts in the United States, responsible for preserving and enhancing the value of a collection of 15 luxury hotels. “I am delighted to return to the Banyan Tree family and participate in the company’s dynamic growth and development,” said Mr. Butt. “I will be focused on strategic initiatives for the 30 hotels in our current portfolio, along with the successful launch of future projects around the world. I look forward to working with our dedicated associates and valuable partners in continuing to chart the path of BTHR’s pre-eminence in the luxury hospitality space.”
