European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Industry has signed a multi-billion-dollar Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Aircraft Leasing Company for the sale of 100 A320 single-aisle aircraft, Airbus said on Thursday.
The Chinese company, the largest independent operator in China's leasing market, intends to acquire 74 A320 ecologically and fuel-efficient "NEO" models and 26 other A320 and A321 planes, a statement here said.
No final value was published regarding the potential contract by Airbus.
"When a leading leasing company, CALC, serving customers in the world's fastest growing, dynamic aviation market, orders more of our popular A320 Family aircraft, we take that as a strong signal of the continuing long-term success of our best-selling product line," said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer.
The A320 product line is the world's best-selling, single-aisle family of planes with almost 11,000 orders to date and over 6,200 aircraft delivered to 400 customers and operators worldwide, Airbus reported.
