To commemorate the one-year anniversary of their Pacific Joint Business, American Airlines and Japan Airlines (JAL) have launched special promotions, including a fare sale for travel on flights between the continental United States and Japan. In addition, American will offer a fare sale to select cities in China. The offer is valid for round-trip travel originating and ticketed in the United States on select Economy and Premium Class fares booked on www.AA.com or www.ar.jal.com. Outbound travel is valid between April 11 and May 15, and all travel must be completed by June 15, 2012. Mileage Award Special Between North America and Asia In addition, AAdvantage members can fly American or JAL between North America and Asia on a round-trip Economy Class award ticket for just 40,000 AAdvantage miles, plus taxes and fees of up to $271, from April 6 to May 31, 2012. To obtain complete offer details, visit www.AA.com/offers. During the same period, JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members are also entitled to select JMB award discounts ranging from 10,000 miles to 40,000 miles for round-trip travel from North America to Asia on American or JAL. New Boston – Tokyo Narita Service On April 22, JAL will launch new service between Boston and Tokyo Narita. This new joint business flight with American will be the first nonstop by any airline between the two cities and the first nonstop to link Boston directly with Asia. JAL will operate the route with the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner configured with 42 seats in Business and 144 seats in Economy. JAL Executive Class will be fitted with JAL SHELL FLAT NEO seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, ensuring travelers either a window or aisle seat. Using the Dreamliner’s LED system, JAL created an original cabin lighting design to evoke a sense of the four seasons in Japan such as pink hues reflective of cherry blossoms in spring. The lighting also sets a more conducive environment for slumber, a refreshed wakening, and inflight dining. The aircraft features larger windows and new noise-reducing GEnx engines, providing a tranquil and comfortable travel experience across the Pacific. Bonus Mileage Offer on new Boston – Tokyo-Narita Service To celebrate the new Boston – Tokyo Narita route, AAdvantage and JAL Mileage Bank members can earn double miles every time they fly nonstop between Boston and Tokyo Narita. This offer is valid for travel on purchased, published Business Class and select Economy Class fares on Japan Airlines from April 22 through June 30, 2012. In addition, beginning June 1, American Airlines will reinstate nonstop service between New York JFK and Tokyo Haneda using its three-class Boeing 777 aircraft. American’s New York – Haneda service and Japan Airlines New York – Tokyo Narita service provides customers more travel choices between the East Coast and Asia. “American Airlines and Japan Airlines continue to improve network and schedules for our joint customers around the world,” said Virasb Vahidi, American’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Our continuing commitment to enhancing and modernizing the travel experience further establishes the American Airlines and Japan Airlines joint business as the preferred choice for travel across the Pacific.” “By working together, American Airlines and Japan Airlines can deliver more benefits to our customers,” said Keisuke Suzuki, Japan Airlines Vice President Passenger Marketing – The Americas. “And, in addition to offering more options to earn and redeem mileage on both programs with periodic joint campaigns such as these, we can offer convenience and new opportunities for our customers such as the introduction of two new U.S. routes this year, which have never before been served with nonstop flights to/from Asia.”
