Americans warned not to fly Caribbean Airlines Guyana-to-US flights

The U.S. Embassy in Guyana warned U.S. citizens not to fly out of the country on Caribbean Airlines flights bound for the United States for the next two days. The embassy said it received unconfirmed threat information about U.S.-bound Caribbean Airlines flights, CNN reported Monday. "Out of an abundance of caution, the embassy advises all U.S. citizens in Guyana traveling on Caribbean Airlines ... to the United States from Monday, Feb. 10, through Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, to make alternate travel arrangements," the embassy said in a statement. The government of Guyana announced Sunday night it activated emergency security plans and raised the terror threat level at the country's main international airport following word of threats to Caribbean Airlines flights, CNN said. Caribbean Airlines officials said in a statement Monday the airline added security measures and was cooperating with authorities. It said it was operating on a normal schedule.
