The progressive decline of the quality of life in the old centre of Athens, together with the continuing economic crisis and political uncertainty, have worsened the problems of Greece's hotel sector. Tomorrow another large luxury hotel, the Athens Imperial, member of the Grecotel group, will close its doors. It is the third hotel to be forced to make this choice after the Fashion House Hotel and Classical Acropol hotel, owned by the same group. All three are situated in the historic centre of the Greek capital. In the past two years more than 20 hotels had to close down in Athens, and more are likely to follow due to the bad economic-social situation in the centre of Athens.(ANSAmed).
