Six airports under Airport of Thailand’s management delivered positive performances for both aircraft movements and passenger traffic in September with just a slight dropin domestic passenger traffic at Phuket International Airport. Total aircraft movements at the six airports in September improved by 10.93% from 35,830 aircraft movements to 39,747, while passenger traffic also increased by 8.98% from 5,165,499 to 5,629,117. At Thailand’s main gateway, Suvarnabhumi Airport reported positive performances in September. International aircraft movements were up 6.62% from 17,776 to 18,952 and domestic movements increased 14.91% from 5,694 to 6,543 when compared to the same month last year. International passenger traffic improved 7.31% from 2,956,650 to 3,172,790 while domestic traffic increased 12.87% from 773,188 to 872,685. Phuket International Airport registered positive performances except for a slight drop in domestic passenger traffic. International aircraft movements were up 11.52% from 2,126 to 2,371 movements, while domestic movements increased just 0.83% from 2,170 to 2,188. International passenger traffic registered a double-digit increase of 14.63% from 282,883 to 324,282. Domestic passenger traffic slipped 0.34% from 310,690 to 309,635. Chiang Mai International Airport reported positive performances with double-digit growth in all sectors. International aircraft movements increased 38.97% from 290 to 403 movements. Domestic movements registered an increase of 16.34% from 2,062 to 2,399. International passenger traffic at the northern airport skyrocketed 50.43% from 24,806 to 37,315, while the domestic sector improved 10.63% from 249,523 to 276,057 . Still a domestic only airport last September, Don Mueang International Airport registered improvements in aircraft movements of 19.40% from 3,999 to 4,775, while passenger traffic at the airport increased 8.99% from 352,231 to 383,887. Hat Yai International Airport registered a slight improvement in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic of 7.10% from 986 to 1,056 and 5.41% from 141,502 to 149,157 respectively. Chiang Rai International Airport reported increases in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic of 41.04% from 346 to 488 and 27.23% from 51,529 to 65,558.
