Asiatravel will launch an innovative new way of driving business later this year, with the launch of a new travel agency on wheels.
Named ‘Roadundee’, this mobile travel agency will take to the roads in Singapore in November 2014. Staffed by a team of three people, each Roadundee unit will be able to advise customers and sell individual or group travel.
The vans will be equipped with IT systems offering access to 500 airlines, 500,000 hotels and resorts, and self-drive cars in more than 6,000 cities, along with packages, tours, attraction tickets, transfers and other travel services.
“Travel is a very unique business that requires different forms of interaction with customers,” said Asiatravel’s executive chairman & CEO, Boh Tuang Poh. “As we have built the necessary systems for flights, hotels, tours and packaging and are directly connected to a global inventory, it is timely to introduce them into the markets using different touch points and service concepts.
“We especially like Roadundee because it addresses the O2O (online-to-offline) customers which are a huge segment when travel bookings are concerned. Its mobility also helps us engage hard-to-reach customers who are very likely to be the next big travel audience.”
Asiatravel intends to launch the first Roadundee in Singapore, before taking the concept to the streets of other countries in the region from 2015 onwards.
