Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal inaugurated on Saturday the new e-gates at terminal 3 in Cairo International Airport.
The minister witnessed a live experience of using the new passports and listened to a presentation about the work of the e-gates.
He was the first one to use the new system.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab was scheduled to inaugurate the e-gates, but he apologized due to his participation in the funeral of three judges who were shot dead in Sinai earlier in the day.
Chairman of Cairo Airport Company Ahmed Genina said that the new e-gates are part of efforts to improve the services provided to passengers and placing the airport among the ranks of international hubs.
