People don't like to holiday in herds and are investing in their own holiday homes in the country... Daksha and Deval Thakore, built a house around 11kms away from Mt.Abu, on the hilltop when 3 acres land came at a price of Rs.10,000 only. The property gives you a 360-degree view of the mountains located at the hill station. "When we decided to build the house, nobody was even willing to help us construct the house there," says Daksha Thakore. Everyone likes the idea of going to pristine surroundings but with it comes the demand for urban settings. "Although Goa is a place for loud revelry, I bought a property in Majorda, Goa because of the beach and coconut trees," says Purvi Shah, who owns a couple of apartments in Goa. For Purvi and her husband the idea to invest in a property in Goa, is the local culture and avoid the cost of expensive hotels. Ashish and Nicole Khurana decided to make a holiday home, at Aalloa hills near Ahmedabad. Built on the banks of the Sabarmati river in Gujarat, the place has many attractions for nature lovers as it has hilly mounds and their own kitchen garden where they have planted mango, papaya, custard apple, chikoo, amla trees, medicinal herbs and water lilies across the place. Entrepreneur Prajit Kapur decided to make the Gir forest in Gujarat his second home. He bought a property in the middle of the forest and had a house built near the Sasan village. The couple regularly have lions, leopards, barking deer and such other species walking past their house but at a distance. Happiness has become a moot concept today, and people really have ideas to holiday off the beaten track.
