The camping season 2012-2013 will kick-start on October 25 and continue till March 2, 2013, Southern Governor and Head of the Supreme Camping Season Committee Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa has announced at a press conference today. He said the number of campers topped 3000 last year, pointing out that the committee allocated this year 8 camping zones for the youth, 4 for families, 3 to take up trade activities and 2 for companies. He also added that there are also zones allocated for riding motorbikes and horses. He voiced the Southern Governorate's pleasure to welcome citizens and residents who are wishing to register at the governorate's building in Awali or via the governorate's website. Campers can also register at the Campers Centre after the start of the camping season, he revealed urging campers to remain committed to the hygienic and security rules in order to avert incidents. He also pointed out that the registration system this year will be via GBS so as to locate the place of every camp in case of any incidents or emergencies. On his part, Southern Governorate Police Director General and member of the Supreme Camping Season Committee Colonel Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa stressed that police officers will always be present at the Camping Centre, alongside police patrols, to provide security for the campers and raise their awareness of the need to adhere to the camping rules and regulations.
