
Tourist arrival rates registered a 32.4% year on year drop in March to 755,000, down from 1.01 million tourists in March 2013, according to a monthly report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). CAPMAS indicated that the number of nights spent in March declined by 43.6% to reach 6.7 million nights, compared to the preceding year’s 11.9 million nights. Eastern Europeans comprised 40% of the visiting tourists, while Western Europeans accounted for 37.9 percent and Arab tourists accounted for 15.8% of the total number of tourists.
