China's summer railway passengers set record

More than 463 million passengers traveled by train during July and August, up by 14.2 percent from last summer and setting a record high, according to the China Railway Corporation.
High-speed rail carried over 170 million passengers in the period, more than 36 percent of the total.
During the period, railway authorities had worked hard to ensure passenger safety and make their trips more convenient and comfortable, the company said.
