The number of travelers in major scenic spots across China had totaled 5.76 million by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, as Chinese people are enjoying the third day of an eight-day national holiday. The figure is 29.21 percent higher than that of the same period during last year's National Day holiday, according to the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA). Meanwhile, ticket revenue in those scenic spots hit 309.31 million yuan (48.78 million U.S. dollars), up 32.99 percent, according to the CNTA. Monday marks the 63rd founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China. The traveler number had accumulated to 4.27 million by 5 p.m. on the day. The CNTA monitoring system covers a total of 119 scenic spots across the country.
