The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, or DTCM, organised a joint meeting of the Tourism and Hospital Liaison Group recently to discuss tourism market trends and challenges, and explore further ways to promote and market Dubai in overseas markets. The meeting was chaired by DTCM director-general Khalid A. bin Sulayem, who briefed the gathering about the key performance indicators of Dubai tourism industry in 2011 and the first quarter of 2012 and comparison of Dubai’s tourism industry with other destinations. He enlightened the participants about various initiatives launched by the department, including the “Do More in Dubai” summer holidays promotion, and the new hotel classification scheme. The meeting discussed the issues of concern to the tourism sector and the role played by the department in overcoming the obstacles and challenges faced by tourism sector stakeholders.from khaleej times.
