An exercise was held in Sarajevo International Airport on Friday to test procedures of the airport emergency plan. Dozens of fire fighters and police officers participated the exercise, which simulated a plane crash on the runway. Emergency vehicles rushed to the scene while fire fighters transferred "injured passengers" to a rescue helicopter. Firefighting in plane crash is one of the most complicated operations as time for saving survivors runs only a few minutes, said a fire service official. Members of BiH Emergency Medical Services, Professional Fire Brigade Unit, police as well as Armed Forces of BiH took part in the exercise, said a spokeswoman at the airport. The exercise, held every two years, aimed to test the competence of rescue personnel and current operational plan over emergency, she added.
