Egypt's National Railways (ENR) said the trial operation of a new Egyptian-made air-conditioned train began on Saturday.
The new train is the first of 23 trains scheduled to be received operated successively from SEMAF factory of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), ENR said in a statement.
Those trains will be provided with free Wi-Fi services and surveillance cameras, the statement added.
Egyptian National Railways and SEMAF have signed an agreement to manufacture 212 air-conditioned railway vehicles.
SEMAF is one of the largest manufacturers of rolling stock in the Middle East and Africa. It focuses on the manufacture and distribution of all kinds of railroad equipment.
