Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) has begun the handover of beachfront villas on Saadiyat Island and residents have started moving in, it was reported on Wednesday. The handover is part of the roll out of phase one of the development, with the keys to 254 villas given to owners The villas were launched in 2009 and the second batch of 90 units went on sale in November 2011 and will be handed over in the fourth quarter of 2012. Ahmed Al Fahim, executive director of marketing, communications, Sales '&' Leasing at TDIC, said: “We would like to warmly welcome the first Saadiyat Beach Villas residents to their new homes,” said Ahmed Al Fahim, executive director of marketing, communications, sales and leasing at TDIC. The statement also confirmed that The Collection at The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, a retail complex consisting of 22 restaurants and retail outlets, will open in the third quarter of 2012.
