
Gulf Air's CEO Maher bin Salman bin Jabur Al-Massallam said that the company has accomplished remarkable growth in the first half of 2014.
The company has successfully accomplished its strategic restructuring which began in 2013. The Kingdom's national carrier has been plying in the right track to achieve long term business sustainability.
Al-Massallam pointed out that in the upcoming period, the company would announce its financial results for the first half of 2014 which has seen huge growth in terms of strong operational performance which reflects the company's financial position as one of the infrastructural assets of the Kingdom's national economy.
He told Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that it would be difficult to comment regarding the period in time when the company enters into profitability margin. However, we're committed to positive development aimed to curb losses to a large extent. There are still many things which should be done in order to boost the company's economic sustainability and to assess its commercial services necessary to boost the Kingdom's national economic development.
He said that there have been strenuous efforts exerted and continue to be exerted by the national carrier to expand its flights network from major destinations such as Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai and World Central, Thiruvananthapuram in India, Mashhad and Tehran in Iran, Sialkot in Pakistan, and Athens in Greece. The company has recently announced the launching of flights to Moscow as from October 2014.
He added that the company has many financial and commercial feasibility studies aimed to boost the company's network with major international destinations and to provide strategic commercial, tourism links for the Kingdom of Bahrain to continue its added value commercial and tourism that play a key role in the Kingdom's national economy.
