Heavy fog in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sunday morning has left 20 flights delayed at its airport or diverted to other airports. By 2 p.m., five inbound flights have been diverted to nearby alternate airports, and 15 outbound flights have been delayed as heavy fog disrupted air traffic of the Urumqi International Airport from 11:45 a.m., according to the operation control center of the airport. Flights from cities of Beijing, Xi'an, Hohhot and Chengdu were diverted, said the center in a press release. The fog is still lingering and it is unknown yet when the airport's flight operation will resume. Foggy weather was also seen in other parts of China on Sunday morning, such as provinces of Jiangxi and Jilin, affecting road and air traffic there.
