The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Friday adjusted the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for Egypt to red.
A government spokesman said Hong Kong residents intending to visit Egypt should adjust their travel plans and avoid non- essential travel, including leisure travel. Those already there should monitor the situation, attend to personal safety and avoid protests and large gatherings of people.
Residents are also urged to avoid all travel to the Sinai Peninsula.
The Hong Kong Security Bureau will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue updates through the media and the OTA webpage.
Under the three-color OTA system, black is the highest alert, red the middle, and amber the lowest.
