SpiceJet's maiden flight to Sharjah landed in the emirate's international airport where it was welcome with the traditional water cannon salute. Spicejet's maiden flight which came from Varanasi, a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, on a New Generation Boeing 737 (189 seater aircraft). Sharjah is the Indian low fare airlines' second destination after Dubai. It is fast expanding its wings in international skies by connecting Sharjah with Varanasi and Lucknow through direct flight services. It currently operates four daily flights to Dubai from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi.
