Kenya Airlines has confirmed it will seek to expand its dominance in East Africa with the launch of a handful of new routes. The carrier is planning moves into Lamu and Eldoret, both in Kenya, as well as Kilimanjaro on Tanzania’s northern tourist circuit, Malakal in South Sudan, Mauritius and Cape Town. Other routes include Beirut, Lebanon and the recently opened direct flights to New Delhi in India. ?? The airline eyes on capitalizing on strong trade routes including destinations in India and China. “We are looking at a selected number of other destinations in India. We want to do it soon, with new equipment we can venture into more destinations, move long-haul,” said Mohan Chandra, the airline’s commercial manager. ? To enable the expansion, the airline is relying on the delivery of new aircraft with a new Boeing 767 expected to enter into service in the next couple of weeks, reports from Nairobi claim. Kenya Airlines is considered Africa’s Leading Economy Class Airline by the World Travel Awards.
