Korean Air has taken delivery of its ninth Airbus A380.
The latest double-decker aircraft landed at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport this week and will now undergo a series of tests before making its commercial debut on 6 July on the route to Atlanta.
Korean’s eight other A380s operate daily flights to Los Angeles and Paris and twice day services to New York JFK. The Seoul-Atlanta A380 service will operate three times a week.
Korean Air’s A380 are configured with the least number of seats of any airline currently operating the aircraft. The aircraft comes fitted with just 407 seats in three classes – 12 in first class, 94 in business class and 301 in economy. The entire upper deck of the aircraft is dedicated to business class, with all seats reclining to form fully flat beds.
The ninth A380 will be followed by the airline’s 10th and final aircraft in July 2014. Korean Air placed an order for 10 A380s in June 2011.
