The Marrakech-Menara airport was ranked the second best regional airport in Africa in 2011 by the world's largest Airline and Airport review site, Skytrax. The airport of the Red City came behind the international airport of King Shaka (South Africa) and ahead of Sharam El-Sheikh airport (Egypt). The Marrakech-Menara airport has two terminals and is designed to serve 4.5 million passengers annually. Skytrax’ World Airport Awards are based on survey results from 11.38 million questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationality of airline passengers, covering more than 240 airports worldwide. The Best Regional Airport Awards is a new category for 2011, and gives the opportunity to recognize (sometimes smaller) airports that are delivering the highest levels of service and customer satisfaction.
