Tourism Authority of Thailand’ Phuket office believes that four key emerging markets can help Phuket see a 30% increase in tourists in 2013. TAT Phuket office director, Chanchai Doungjit recently told TTR Weekly that he believed Phuket will see a total of 6.5 to 7 million visitors by the end of 2012, up from 6 million in 2011. Recent figures from TAT Phuket office showed that there were increases of more than 100% in visitors arriving from China & Russia for the first half of 2012, and these are two of the markets which Chanchai hopes to see more increases from in 2013, along with India and the Middle East.
