Kasab is one of the favorable tourist destinations and one of the oldest resorts in the coastal province of Lattakia. The name of the town is thought to be derived from the Latin expression Casa Bella (i.e. the beautiful town). It is around 60 km to the north of Lattakia and 800 meters above sea level. The resort brings together the green nature, the blue sea, the clear sky and the moderate climate in a charming portrait. Religious sites, churches, monasteries, luxury hotels, restaurants and green forests enhanced the tourist importance of Kasab. In a statement to SANA, Mayor of Kasab Town Waskeen Jaberian said the town covers an area of 3000 hectares that is rich with archeological buildings. "The town is famous for apple, vine, peach and laurel trees, which are used in fragrance oils and soap making, in addition to 1000 hectares of pine, terebinth and oak forests," Jaberian added. He pointed out that the number of Kasab inhabitants varies between winter and summer to reach 50,000. There are 34 well-equipped 4-star restaurants and tourist facilities, in addition to apartments for rent. He added that the town provides its services to all visitors through the municipality, clinics, camps, cafes, restaurants, and folklore and gifts shops, in addition to organizing artistic shows and events in the tourist season of every year.
