Radar delivered for India patrol plane

The first international version of Raytheon's APY-10 maritime surveillance radar is to be installated on a P-8I patrol aircraft being built for the Indian navy. Raytheon, in a news release at the Singapore Air Show, announced the system had been delivered to Boeing for installation. "Our APY-10 radar will provide the Indian navy with proven, low-risk technology built on generations of successful Raytheon maritime radar systems," said Tim Carey, vice president for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems at Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems business. "Adaptable and configurable, the APY-10 radar is a premier example of Raytheon's ability to meet key customer requirements." Raytheon said it modified the system for Indian navy requirements. An air-to-air mode for detection and tracking of airborne targets was added, as well as an interleaved weather and surface search capability. Eight additional APY-10 radars are being built for the Indian navy, Raytheon said.
