The passenger traffic at Singapore's Changi Airport in September grew by 12.5 percent year on year to 3.82 million, the airport group said on Monday. Aircraft movements increased by 16.4 percent to 25,500, too. The passenger movements in the first nine months of the year grew by 11.3 percent year on year to 34.2 million. The number of passengers carried by low-cost carriers grew by 26 percent, while traffic on full-service flights grew by 7.1 percent. Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia were major contributors to the passenger traffic growth. However, the growth in the future may be impacted by weaker demand as a result of increasing economic uncertainties in the United States and Europe, the airport said. Singapore had a record passenger traffic of more than 42 million last year.
