Tanuma is a beautiful place in the southern part of the Kingdom. It is well known for its salubrious climate, heritage buildings and agricultural products. Tanuma attracts a large number of tourists every year because of its good weather and the presence of a large number of historical sites including fortresses and palaces. Some of these old buildings remain in good shape, according to a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). There is an old mosque dating back to more than 100 years, it added. Tanuma is located on the Sarawat mountains, 115 km north of Abha, and 2,300 meters above sea level. It is one of the oldest towns in the Kingdom, which has been mentioned by historians and poets. Historian Hamdani has written about the township, adding that it was well known for agriculture. Located on the route of Haj and trade caravans, people used to consider it as an ideal resting place in the past. Tanuma is distinguished for its lush greeneries and abundant water resources. Various agricultural products including fruits are cultivated here. It is also known for its olive trees, the SPA report said.
