The visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Egypt serves the best interests of Egyptian tourism and opens new horizons for bilateral cooperation, the Ministry of Tourism said Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry said the number of Chinese visitors to Egypt increased by 87 percent in 2015, compared to 2014, noting that 115,000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt in 2015, while only 61,000 Chinese visitors were recorded in 2014.
The visit of the Chinese president to Egypt, in general, and Luxor, in particular, served in promoting the Egyptian tourism products, the statement said.
Egypt's tourism promotion office in Beijing targets attracting 200,000 Chinese tourists in 2016, it added.
