Hamas official Osama Hamdan is hoping Palestinian groups will honour their commitments
Member of Fatah’s Central Committee Zakaria al-Agha has said that his movement is committed to the agreement they signed with Hamas in Qatar which stipulated that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would lead
the transitional government.
In a statement to the media, Agha confirmed that they would discuss the formation of the transitional government and the security issue during talks on January 30.
Meanwhile, Hamas official Osama Hamdan has expressed his movement’s desire to implement the agreements with Fatah. He stressed that the coming month would witness serious developments in the Palestinian reconciliation. He called for the Palestinian factions to honour their commitments.
Hamdan added that his movement would not accept the continuation of the current state of division, stressing that the Israeli occupation is the first to benefit from dividing the Palestinian people between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. He described the reconciliation as Hamas’ strategic choice, praising the positive atmosphere that followed Hamas’ victory over the occupation.
He described the recent agreement between Fatah and Hamas aiming to re-activate the reconciliation agreement signed in April 2011 as the right step that could support the current positive atmosphere.
Elsewhere, Fatah member Azam al-Amed has denied that an Egyptian security delegation would be visiting Gaza and Ramallah to follow the recent developments witnessed in the Palestinian arena. He told the official Palestinian radio that there are no plans to host any Egyptian delegation on Palestinian territories ahead of the PLO committee meeting.
He added that Egypt, as the sponsor of the reconciliation agreement, could resume its visits to follow the different issues, adding that they formed a committee to study the obstacles that could impede the reconciliation agreement.
