Damascus - Noura Khowam

Syrian governmental fighter jets bombarded the strongholds of opposition factions in Zallaqiat Village of Hama’s northern countryside in coincidence with violent clashes between the governmental troops on one hand and other opposition factions on the other hand. The clashes led to the killing of a large number of fighters from the two parties in addition to the destruction of large amounts of equipment.
The opposition parties carried out an attack against the sites controlled by the governmental troops to restore the sites it lost during the recent days. Aleppo Police Command announced, on Saturday, that two persons were killed and six others were wounded in an attack launched by Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Nusra Front), and its affiliated terrorist groups, using missiles and shells, on al-Hamdaniyah area, in the city of Aleppo.
The Police Command said in a press statement that the terrorist groups in al-Rashedeen neighborhood, on the southwestern outskirts of the city of Aleppo, attacked the 3000 apartments project in al-Hamdaniyah area, using 10 rockets, killing two persons and wounding six others, including a child.
The shelling also inflicted heavy damage to the civilian houses and infrastructure of the residential area, the statement added. Last week, Jabhat al-Nusra launched an attack on the 3000 apartments project in the city of Aleppo, killing a woman, and a rocket attack on ‘Abdel Kader Ba’ath’ school, in the same area, killing five children.
A military source revealed that troops of the Syrian Arab Army, backed by paramilitary forces, recaptured four strategic locations, west of Talila protectorate, east of Palmyra, SANA reported on Thursday. Another army brigade conducted intensified strikes on gatherings and headquarters of terrorists belonging to al-Nusra Front in the area of Daraa al-Balad.
Furthermore, the military source said that the strikes also either killed or wounded several terrorists in Tareeq al-Sad neighborhood and the area northwest of the old Jumrok, in addition to destroying their fortifications and caches of weapons, southeast of al-Khazan in al-Abbaseya neighborhood.
Syrian fronts of Qabon, Teshreen and Barza Gardens witnessed intensive artillery and missile attacks from the governmental troops on early Thursday in coincidence with continuous clashes between the governmental troops loyal to Syrian regime of President Bashar Al Assad on one hand and opposition factions on the other hand. The clashes led to the killing and injury of a large number of the governmental forces. The opposition factions targeted a sniper loyal to the government on the front of Jupper district.
Clashes broke out between the opposition factions and the Syrian Democratic forces on the axis of Kafrkhasher and the village of Maarin north of Aleppo, following an attempt from the Syrian Democratic Forces to achieve advance in the area. In the eastern countryside, warplanes raided the town of Maskana, which is controlled by the elements of the organization, "Daash", while an explosive device exploded Thursday morning planted by unknowns by the headquarters of the Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the city of Manbaj.
Terrorists of al-Nusra Front shelled al-Zarah Thermal Power Station in the southern countryside of Hama with mortar shells, Syria News reported on Wednesday. A number of mortar shells fell on the vicinity of al-Zarah Thermal Power Station and the workers residence, causing material damage but no casualties were reported, Syria News said. Zarah, and other power stations in the country sides of Hama and Idlib, suffered several terrorist attacks, especially Zayzun station that was looted completely by the terrorists who came from Turkish borders.
In Idlib, Russian warplanes launched air raids on the town of Khan Sheikhoun and the towns of Tirmala, Marzita, Kefarlaya, Hibit, Tamta'a, Taibat and Ruwaisah, injuring a number of civilians. Russian air force targeted Nusra army headquarter, on the outskirts of the town of Taramala in the southern countryside, which led to seven killed.
In Homs there were very violent clashes, in the vicinity of Shaer oil field and the outskirts of al-Sokary area, in the eastern countryside between IS organization and regime forces, amid air raids and artillery shelling. In the northern countryside, the villages of Kissin, Qa'i and other villages in Hawla area were also shelled by artillery and mortars of the regime forces, resulting in injuries.
In Daraa, Syrian jets launched air raids on the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad, accompanied by heavy artillery and rocket fire, while the aircraft raided the town of Al-Naima. The town of Da'al and the western and eastern Gharian villages were shelled by artillery.
There were also clashes between elements of ISIS extremist group and the Syrian Democratic Forces near Rawi fuel station in the surrounding area of the town of Hnideh, as the International Coalition fighter jets targeted a car carrying a number of extremists in the town, which led to the killing of all of them.
On the political side, The Syrian armed opposition said on Wednesday it had suspended its participation in peace talks being held in Kazakhstan and demanded an end to government bombing of areas under its control.
A senior official from Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry, however, told reporters he expected Syrian opposition figures to return to the talks on Thursday. Another diplomat close to the talks also said the rebels were not walking out completely.
“The delegation has suspended its participation after presenting a memorandum for a total commitment to stopping (government) bombardments,” Ahmad Ramadan, a spokesman for the opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC), said.
In the memorandum, the rebels demanded “clear implementation procedures” for matters such as enforcing a ceasefire, withdrawal of government forces from areas taken by them since Dec. 30 last year, and release of detainees.
They also again insisted on President Bashar Assad’s departure and objected once again to Iran’s role in the process, describing it as an “aggressor state”. Iran, along with Russia, are Assad’s main supporters against rebels trying to topple him.
