Yemen’s interim President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi
Yemen’s interim President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, has denied claims he is using the security vacuum in the country as leverage to extend his term in office
.
In a post on his Facebook page, he said, “My mission is to take the Yemen out of its ?current troubles, during a transition period which has divided the country into several parts over the last ?two years.”?
He criticised those who claimed he was favouring his close allies to take up the position once the new government was formed, at the same time refuting claims his oldest son Jalal Hadi was interfering in the affairs of the country.
Hadi’s term in office ends in February 2014 with the dissolution of the interim government, according to a Gulf initiative.
Political analysts have warned rival parties may not conclude a national dialogue by this date, which has been ongoing since March 2013. The outgoing government would need to draft a new constitution and hold national elections before then, giving Hadi a political exit before the newly elected government takes the reigns.
