Yemeni Deputy Information Minister Fayad al Nouaman on Wednesday denied media reports claiming that the government received new drafted roadmap to bring about peace in the war-torn Arab state.
The remarks come after the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed had visited Aden on Monday where he met with Yemeni officials to discuss the need for a truce to allow in humanitarian aid.
According to Yemeni media, Ould Cheikh presented a revised roadmap during his meeting with Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, asserting the legitimacy of Hadi as an elected president, the need to end the coup and the withdrawal of the militias as well as appointing a vice president and forming a national unity government.
During the meeting, Ould Cheikh Ahmed said he discussed the key elements of a comprehensive agreement, based on consultations in Kuwait, which would help bring an end to the war and Yemen's return to an orderly transition.
Ould Cheikh’s visit follows a week of meetings with senior officials from the Governments of Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar in Riyadh, Muscat and Doha, respectively.
He is scheduled to travel to the capital city of Sana'a in the coming days to share the same message with representatives from Ansar Allah and General People's Congress.
